Desktop Delivery Service for Faculty

What is Desktop Delivery?

Desktop Delivery is a new library service for CMU faculty. Whenever you need a copy of an article or a book chapter from the library print or microform collections, the library can scan it and send it to you electronically.

Who can use Desktop Delivery?

All currently employed CMU faculty.

What can be requested?

Any material that can be scanned within the limits of copyright compliance will be provided.

NOTE: Books are not available at this time through this service.

How much does Desktop Delivery cost?

There is no cost to you or your department at this time.

How do I submit a request?

Click on "Interlibrary Loan Requests" on the left-hand column of the library home page to access the "ILLiad Request Form".

If you are a first time user of ILLiad, you will need to create an ILLiad user account before you can submit a request.

Once this is done, you will be presented with a choice of forms for requesting material. Chose the one that best describes the material you need and enter your data.

When will my requests be delivered?

It is our goal to fill requests within 1-2 business days or less.

How do I access my articles or book chapters?

You will receive an e-mail message at your CMU account (your global ID@cmich.edu) notifying you that your material is ready for viewing.

Log into you ILLiad account, scroll down to the "View/Download Electronically Received Article". Click on the button and the red number to the left of it. The article will appear in a PDF file and be available for 14 days. You may view it, print it or download it.

How long does the link to this material remain active?

The link to your requests remains active for 14 days from the day the linking e-mail is sent to you. You may print, download, or view the material during that time.
