What is Spybot Search & Destroy?

This program, by PepiMk software, searches the hard disk for different kinds of internet threats including spy and adware, key loggers and usage trackers (for example, the browser's page history) and can also fix some problems, remove the threats if found and replace them with empty dummies. In most cases, the host software still runs after removing the spyware.

Installation

• Start the program by double-clicking the file SpybotSD.exe in the directory in which the archive was extracted. A desktop icon or a start menu item may be created if installing the software for the first time.
• Enter the destination drive where the program has to be setup and click next.
• Click install to continue with the installation or click back to review changes.
• Click finish to complete the installation.

Scan Procedures

• Go to File menu and click " Check for problems ". This will start the scan for any problems in the system which has to be fixed.
• Displays the obsolete entries. Red entries indicate spyware problems that should be fixed to avoid security or privacy problems. Black entries indicate system internals and should not be removed until usage is known. Green entries indicate usage tracks and it can do no harm to remove these.
• Check the entries which have to be permanently removed from the system and click " Fix selected problems " button.
• This permanently removes the selected entries from the hard disk.
