Presents a statistical portrait of the demographic, social, and economic characteristics of blacks. Includes information on: population growth and geographic distribution; marital status; family type and composition; educational attainment; employment; unemployment; occupational distribution; family income; earnings; poverty status; and the tenure of householders.

Black Soldier-White Army: The 24th Infantry Regiment in Korea. 1996.
Presents a social history of black soldiers in the United States Army. Explains in detail the climate of racial prejudice surrounding the 24th Infantry Regiment in Japan and Korea during the Korean War. Uncovers the legacy of that prejudice in combat.

Celebrating Our Nation's Diversity: A Teaching Supplement for Grades K-12. 1995.
Created by the Census Bureau Education Program, this teaching resource contains two units. Unit 1 is for elementary school and consists of six lessons. Unit 2 is designed for junior and senior high school students and consists of five lessons. Also includes an overview of demographic concepts about diversity, key definitions of terms, data tables, four race and ethnic maps, and five Census Questionnaire Content Bulletins that describe information on diversity from the 1990 census.

All black-white comparisons refer to black non-Hispanics and white non-Hispanics.

The "findings and recommendations, particularly with respect to police misconduct and the lack of bilingual services in critical areas such as health, social services, education, and criminal justice, will likely apply to other localities across the Nation."
