Advertising Assignment
Below you will find a problem statement which explains the context
of the questions. Make a hardcopy (print copy) of the questions and write your
answers on the hardcopy. Beneath the questions there are a series of sources
listed which are to be used for answering the questions. (Hint:
the sources needed to answer the questions are listed in the same order as the
the questions, e.g. use the first source to answer question number 1.)
When you have completed all of the questions, give the questions
and answers to your instructor. Your instructor will give you a due date for
the assignment.
Problem: You are looking for a position in an advertising agency. Because
you have previously worked with the U. S. Government you would like to find
out if the government is a major advertiser, and identify an agency that has the government as a client.
Questions
- To start, determine if the U. S. Government is a major advertiser. Once
a year Advertising Age publishes a list of the 100 leading national
advertisers.
a) Where did the U. S. Government rank in the listing for 2002?
b) What was the total amount of money the U. S. Government spent on advertising
in 2002? (Hint: Check the bottom of the page to determine if the numbers are in hundreds, thousands, or millions of dollars etc.)
- Find the advertising agency used by the United States Army Recruiting Command,
Advertising & Public Affairs Directorate. What is the Name of the Agency? (Hint: Start by looking in the index to companies.)
