Group Study Room Policy

Last Updated: 1/09/06

  1. The Group Study Rooms are for use by Central Michigan University affiliates. They may be reserved in person at the Book Checkout Desk or by calling the Facilities Specialist at 774-1030.
  2. Individuals may use an unreserved room, but must vacate the room if requested when it is needed by a group.
  3. Rooms may be reserved for a 2-hour time period. One additional renewal is permitted, provided no other library patron has reserved the room.
  4. The group study rooms are very popular, especially during exam periods and weekday afternoons and evenings. Because of this, if someone is waiting for a room, your reservation will not be held for more than 15 minutes past the scheduled start time.
  5. Group Study Room keys must be returned immediately at the end of your reservation to the Check-out Desk located on 2nd floor. Unreturned/lost keys will result in a $10.00 replacement fee.
  6. Drinks are permitted in approved spill-proof containers; food is not permitted in the library. Both of these policies apply to the group study rooms.
  7. The following activities are not allowed in the Group Study Rooms: painting, practicing music, partying, using tobacco, holding office hours, classes or activities that are disruptive to others.
  8. Please do not reserve a Group Study Room and not make adequate use of it. The majority of your time when you have the room reserved should be spent in the room.
  9. Please leave the room's layout as it is. Do not rearrange it or bring extra furniture into the room.
  10. Upon leaving the room please remember to take all of your belongings with you. Pick up any trash and put it in the nearest trash receptacle. Please lock the door.
  11. Your CMU I.D. Card will be held at the Check-out Desk until the Group Study Room key is returned.

All Rooms Must Be Vacated 15 Minutes Before The Library Closes!
