Last Updated: 7/28/05

Central Michigan University Libraries have 40 individual study rooms available for use by CMU faculty, including emeriti faculty, staff, and graduate students.

  1. Procedures for Requesting a Study Room Assignment
    1. New Applications
      1. Requests for study room applications are available on our website at http://www.lib.cmich.edu/facilities/.
      2. Applications may be submitted to the Book Checkout Desk anytime via fax or in person.
      3. All applicants will be notified of the decision by letter or e-mail.
      4. Once assigned a study room, the study room holder must come to the Library Checkout counter on the 2nd floor to sign out a study room key. The key will be signed out only to the person to whom the study room is assigned. If the key is lost or is not returned, the person will be charged $10.00, the cost of replacing the key.
      5. All study room assignments expire at the end of Spring Semester.
    2. Renewal Applications
      1. Applicants may request a renewal for one additional academic year after their initial year of usage. After that time priority will be given to new applicants and extra renewal years will be granted only if rooms are available.
      2. Renewal request application forms will be delivered to the study rooms of persons eligible to renew approximately four (4) weeks prior to the conclusion of Spring Semester.
      3. Renewal requests must be submitted prior to the expiration date, via campus mail to Park Library 222A or by fax (989-774-1599). Study rooms not renewed by the deadline will be emptied and reassigned.
1b. Library materials will be checked-in and returned to shelves.
2b. Personal materials will be sent to the department, or to the University's lost and found.
      4. Renewals will not be granted to:
1a. Persons who have not made extensive use of the study room space.
2b. Persons who consistently have materials in their study rooms that have not been checked out. (Study rooms will be inspected for unchecked library materials.)
3c. Persons who have not abided by library study room policies.
