Statutes are the written laws passed by federal and state legislatures. Statutes can be published in the form of session laws which are laws (acts) published in numerical order as the laws are passed, reflecting the work of each session of congress. Statutes can also be published as codes or compiled laws that are a reflection of all the laws currently in effect at a specific point in time, by subject. Municipal Codes are the ordinances of local governments within the United States.
